Announcing Shifter’s New Plans and Pricing

Today we’re announcing new site plans for added flexibility when migrating or launching sites on Shifter.

The most important change to note is that Shifter now offers a per-site pricing model. This change was based on direct feedback from our customers, leads, and community members.

It’s also important to note that we are lowering the price of our introductory-level plan and changing the subscription model so you only pay for the sites you need.

New Plans

Shifter now offers tiered plans for each site you create. These plans offer different services and features within the Shifter platform. It allows you to get started with just what you need and scale up as your site grows.

Why the change?

Since our launch in 2016, we’ve made very few changes to our pricing model. Increasing the number of sites from 1 to 3 on a single subscription was the only major change. This allowed users to launch more than one WordPress site on a single subscription. While some users took to this added benefit we found that most users felt they were left paying more for sites they never used.

We believe this change is good and it will benefit everyone from our existing and new customers to even our very own engineers working on Shifter every day.

For existing Customers

If you are an existing customer, we thank you! We also want you to know this change will not affect your current plan, pricing, or services. You’ll continue to use your current subscription until you have decided to make a change.

Moving forward we will refer to our original plans as Legacy Plans. If you have unused sites available on this plan you may still use them with no added cost or change in your subscription. If you are at the maximum number of sites that your current plan allows, newly launched sites will be created on a new plan. Please note that after moving away from an existing Legacy Plan that plan will no longer be available.

The pricing changes will be effective from midnight Eastern Time on September 13th, 2019. There is no action required by existing customers.

We welcome your feedback during this rollout. If you have any questions or suggestions we would like to hear them. Please contact us on our support channels and let us know what you think.
